DIY Manicure

Posted by Alisa Nakken

We all know getting a professional manicure is not as easy as it used to be (*cough–pandemic) so I compiled a list of DIY manicure products that are simple to use and fast to apply.

I do realize I can just paint my nails, but after three days of doing the dishes, cleaning, folding laundry, and other various tasks my manicure is already chipped. I prefer my manicure to last a minimum of 7 days which means no signs of chips or cracks.

Press-On Nails

As I write this I’m currently wearing Kiss ImPRESS Press-on Manicure nails. I don’t typically have long nails unless it’s for a special event like a wedding, however since I’m not going to a wedding anytime soon and I happened to have a box under my bathroom sink I thought, “WHY NOT?”

These nails last for nearly two weeks and they look just as good as the professional dip or acrylic nails. The best part about wearing these is you are not thinning your nail bed as you would with the others.

Nail Foils

Over the last year I have become obsessed with nail foils! You can find them just about anywhere; Target, ColorStreet.com and Jane.com are my preferred places to purchase them.

Out of the three my favorite for the price are the nail foils from Jane.com. They are only $4 per sheet with so many great designs to choose from. The way you apply the foils does not differ from brand to brand-it’s exactly the same. I have to admit the most expensive brand, ColorStreet, starts to crack a couple days after application. This has not been the case with other brands I have tried.

There are many options to choose from when doing a DIY manicure. My hope is that I’ve motivated you enough to treat yourself to some self care. After all, it’s good for the soul. XOXO!
